Legendary Japanese director Takeshi Kitano, who is known primarily as a comedian in his native country, is an underrated force in the world of cinema, and this three-pack of used VHS tapes only confirms that notion. This set includes: "Violent Cop", his powerful debut film about a cop that goes to great lengths to capture bad guys; "Sonatine", a gangster epic in which a man is double-crossed by his own gang and sets out on a quest for vengeance; and "Kikujiro", a complete 180 from the other two films, in which Kitano shows his soft side. In it, he plays a man tasked with helping a kid find his mother--it is surprisingly brilliant.
All three of these films are in used condition, and the cases more or less show it--many of the corners are frayed. The tapes themselves are fantastic, though, and play with no problems. This is a great chance to familiarize yourselves with a true cinematic genius.
